AI & CHAT GPT

January 30, 2023

Whether friend or foe, AI has been at the centre of the zeitgeist for decades. Be it the more-human-than-human dystopian horror of the Tyrell company and its Replicants in Blade Runner - or simply the ease of the ability to open your smartphone by looking at it, humans have consistently been fascinated with fictional and actual ways to automate our lives. As technology advances, AI has the potential to expand a number of industries - provided it can be used without ethical concerns arising.

Recently you might have seen mention of OpenAI’s new venture ChatGPT in your social media feeds. But what is Chat GPT? And didn’t Optimal get there first? Read on to find out all the answers.

What is Chat GPT?

ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022. It is built on top of OpenAI's GPT-3.5 family of large language models and fine-tuned with supervised and reinforcement learning techniques.

OpenAI was founded seven years ago as a non-profit research institute focused on ensuring that artificial general intelligence — autonomous technologies that could “outperform” humans — could be created safely for the benefit of all. It created a for-profit arm in 2019. Elon Musk was one of its founders but departed in 2018, citing a conflict with his AI work at Tesla.

Optimals AI,  but for everything?

Technically, yes. Functionally, no.

Get-Optimal secure AI Models are fundamentally different in ambition, customer types, data sources and execution. We also work in a heavily controlled and secure environment and are hosted on Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services. We are a member of ‘AI for Good’ and use many techniques, including Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), which fine-tunes our AI models based on how humans rate their generated responses. We are built on top of Microsoft's GPT family of large language models.

GO remove opinion and utilise millions of real-time Job Ad data points to make these critical decisions. We are specialists, not generalists.

To quote Sam Altman, 37, chief executive of OpenAI, on Twitter:

“It’s a mistake to be relying on it for anything important right now. It’s a preview of progress; we have lots of work to do on robustness and truthfulness. Fun, creative inspiration; great! Reliance for factual queries; not such a good idea….We will work hard to improve!”

Conclusion

It's great for us at Optimal that something we developed from scratch 24 months ago is now being put into beta mode (temporary free access) by the Open API source community. Anything that raises awareness about how AI works and demystifies how 'dangerous' AI is will help educate all folks. On the flip side, no IT department or CTO would ever approve the internal use of an open technology source with no checks, controls and security architecture in place. There is no standardisation or approved protocols. And it could be switched off at any moment.

How many companies who approve the usage of GPT will be sued in the future by their employees when they are exposed to hate content, nudity, and violent images? You have NO control over what they search for and see.

Just look at the GPT Disclaimer “While we have safeguards in place, the system may occasionally generate incorrect or misleading information and produce offensive or biased content. It is not intended to give advice”.

Chat GPT can’t deal with concepts that are too recent. Anything from the past year will be met with limited knowledge, and the model can produce false or confused information. It's a year behind, which is lightyears in our world.

Why use a still-evolving, open-ended tech when you can optimise your job ads with a specific product that is lightyears ahead in its training?

That’s us at Get-Optimal. Why not book your demo today and let us show you how.
